From the Pastor’s Pen……. We hope you have had a wonderful holiday. For those of you who are ill, it is our earnest prayer you will be healed, and experience “the times of refreshing from the Presence of the Lord.” Well, its that time of the year when we must begin again with our church programme, forging as many links as we can with the local community. For me its an awesome privilege to address Lisburn City Council on a monthly basis. Having been appointed by the Mayor, Alderman Paul Porter as his chaplain, I rejoice in the opportunities I am given. As many of you will be aware, it was believed that following prayer for guidance, 2010 should be a Year of Evangelism. We have been greatly encouraged by a number of unchurched people coming to Christ and regularly attending the fellowship. They have been all greatly helped by the Alpha Course, which finished in early July. This course, which was backed by simultaneously held prayer meetings, gave everyone the opportunity to share their faith, ask questions, and enjoy fellowship over a cup of tea. Meanwhile sincere thanks is expressed to all involved in community evangelism, whether it be by tract distributions, giving of D.V.D’S, or ministry in hospital and nursing homes. Now our next major evangelistic outreach begins on Sunday 12th September at 6.15pm, featuring the ministry of internationally renowned evangelist J.JOHN. Many of you have been preparing for this through our Wednesday night series “Breaking News”, and we sincerely thank you for all your efforts, particularly during the holiday season. The J.JOHN evangelistic outreach, which is being held by hundreds of churches at this time, is called just10. Using the teaching of the 10 commandments, “through which is the knowledge of sin”, J. John presents the gospel in a unique and humourous fashion, bringing 1000’s into a sincere relationship with Christ. Be sure to spread the news, inviting many to this wonderful series, which lasts 10 weeks, being held on Sunday nights at the earlier time of 6.15pm. Much publicity is officially available, the details being decided by the Oversight. Meanwhile on Wednesdays nights throughout the Crusade, in depth Study Guides about the Ten Commandments and their relevance today will be discussed, (each book costing £3.00). These week-night studies and prayer meetings begin on Wednesday 15th September at 7.30pm. (D.V.) Be sure to place your order with Doreen for the Study Guides a.s.a.p. Everyone is welcome, including those still seeking salvation. Incidentally, we have also two other exciting events in the pipeline. A great gospel concert is scheduled for Wednesday 29th September at 7.30pm in Lisburn Elim. It features the ministries of Brad White U.S.A. (pianist with The Gaithers and the former Blackwood Brothers), “The Woodvale” quintet and certain outstanding local musicians. This is followed by the ministry of “Rocky”, an exceptional prophetic preacher from S. Africa on Sunday 3rd October at 11.30am. Surely it is time to praise the Lord! Yours in His Unfailing Love, Doreen and Norman.
